I'm sure you have heard the ads. Dennys, of all places, is having a two month long celebration for bacon. When I mentioned this to the husband Monday night, he told me to forget my plans for dinner so that he could take me. Did I pick a winner or what? How lucky am I!
Bacon Flapjacks
And a Maple Bacon Sundae
Hope you're not bacon-ed out just yet. I'm going to have another bacon post coming up Monday.

What Went On
So a dear friend of mine, who took me under his wing during my first year of teaching, got married over the weekend. Nick and I drove out to Palm Springs for the occasion and managed to sneak in a quick visit at the Viceroy, which is absolutely gorgeous (the Parker is still my top choice though).
Congratulations, Sean!

I Wanna Rock!
A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to go see the musical Rock of Ages at the Orange County Performing Arts Center. Tickets were on sale in one of the deals emails I receive, and since I had read about this feature, I snapped them up immediately.
It tells the story of two people who fall in love on the Sunset Strip during the 1980s, and since it's all about rock I did my best Kate Hudson:
I honestly cannot say the last time I had so much fun. I was singing along to every 80s hair band song in the musical, and dancing in my seat. When they did a mash-up of two of my absolute, all time favorite songs: "More than Words" and "I'm the One"...I knew I was a fan for life.
I bought the cast recording, and every time I feel down driving to work I just pop it in and it instantly brightens my mood. If the tour comes to your city, I highly recommend going. It will not disappoint.

Me Likey
So I'm a big lip gloss/lipstick fan. I always put something on every morning before I step into the classroom. Whatever I put on usually wears off by lunch though, and I always forget to put something on afterwards. Enter Burt's Bees Lip Tints:
I cannot remember what magazine I saw these mentioned in, but when I spotted them at CVS I had to pick one up. I am so in love! These lip tints are incredibly moisturizing, and they have the perfect amount of color. Usually I don't care for lip tints because they are too sheer. However, these lip tints are pretty solid, and yet just sheer enough. Does that make sense? And the shea butter in them is so nourishing. I highly recommend that you pick one up.

Hash House
Wow. I kinda miss my pre-puppy life. Having two little guys in my house is somewhat comparable to having kids. These pups have sucked the life out of us, but they are totally worth it. I have realized I am going to have to try and write all of my blog posts over the weekend; otherwise, they just aren't going to happen.
So the morning we got our little darlings, we were able to make it to one of the restaurants we saw on a bacon special: the Hash House in San Diego.
This place featured a bacon bloody mary and bacon baked right into the waffle. My husband was especially excited about the "Hair of the Dog" as well.
Yes, that's right. PBR in a brown paper bag and a bowl of bacon. I, on the other hand, got right to it and ordered the bloody mary. Here it is in all of it's bacon-y glory:
Do you see it? Let's look at a close-up.
Yep, those are bacon bits on the rim. Yum!
Granted, this is not the best bloody mary I've had by far. But you can't beat the fact that you can make a BLT right from everything in the drink and on the plate. Now, the waffle was a bit better:
Having the bacon baked right into the waffle gave each bit that wonderful combination of salty and sweet. However, the waflle mix itself was a bit heavy. The serving sizes here are ginormous, and I didn't ever eat a quarter of the waffle.
Overall, it was a fun experience, but nothing the husband and I had really stood out. I honestly don't know how they opened another location in Vegas. At least I can check it off my bacon foodie list.

My Boys
Over the weekend, my husband and I made a pretty life-changing decision. I have whined and whined the past couple of years about wanting a dog, and this weekend we finally changed that by getting these little darlings.
I knew "my boys" were going to change things, but I guess I truly didn't until I got up at 4:30 this morning.
They are definitely going to be a challenge these first few months, but I know things will change eventually.
