Hodad's Letdown

We've all had an experience where we get so excited about something only to be completely disappointed about it. As a cheeseburger junkie, I was ecstatic to finally get to check out Hodad's in San Diego. Guy Fieri had raved about their burgers on "Best Thing I Ever Ate," so I was totally pumped up walking in.

Even though we couldn't get a table because we didn't have time, I literally skipped out to the car with our "to go" bag. But when I opened it, my heart almost sunk immediately. First off, the burgers are just too darn big. Even after I had squished it down, it was hard to take a bite.

I'm smiling in this picture, but I am literally crying on the inside. After I took that first bite, my heart sunk. Where was the flavor? Where was that great taste that had been hyped up? The meat had no flavor, and the bacon I added to mine was barely noticeable. Granted, you could tell the vegetables were very fresh, but they just didn't help. First Umami Burger, now this. I was in total burger let down mode, and nothing could shake me. I didn't even finish the burger.

There is hope on the horizon though. I've found a place that I squealed out loud about when I viewed the segment on it. The husband had to hold me down on the couch so I wouldn't bolt out the door. More to come soon.

Valentine's Day Bites...

...literally. Yesterday was the first time I had been home and not away on a Washington DC trip for the past two years, so I tried to be romantic. I picked up some great sandwiches on baguettes from a cute French bakery, some pasta salad, and a great wine. I told husband to be home by 5:30. We went up to a cute little park by our house for a little picnic dinner.

And we totally got bit by some bugs there. I could not stop scratching my feet, and the hubs got some nasty looking welts on his knees. ::sigh:: Oh well, I tried. Hope you had an itch-free Valentine's day.

H-O-T-T

Hello Lovelies,

Do you love how I let a whole month slip by? I actually didn't put up the link to my new blog because I didn't have time to create a new header. Lame, I know. I honestly cannot believe how quickly the days are going by. I have so much going on at work, sometimes I just feel like I can't breathe.

Anyhoo, I just had to share the following pictures and video clip from the Grace Potter and the Nocturnals concert I went to last Friday night. It was an out of body experience. I love when you can totally lose yourself in the music and let it take you away. It was exactly what I needed after battling a sinus infection. She is phenomenal, and I am not over-exaggerating things. My husband said that he felt as though he had actually seen rock stars. Each band member is just so darn good, and Grace is unreal. If she is coming to your area, but tickets ASAP. She is selling out all of her dates.
